"What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that's gone forever, impossible to reproduce."
Karl Lagerfeld was a German fashion designer and photographer. He was the creative power behind the modern revival of Chanel and designed many collections for the Italian fashion company Fendi and his own label Karl.
During his lifetime, he aimed to provoke as much as inspire. The quote that you see above, is one of my favourite sayings by him. It describes one of the reasons why I love photography so much in a very simplified way.
Photography provides a touchstone back to a time that would otherwise be forgotten. When I look at a photograph that I was present for, I can usually tell you exactly what was going on, what I was feeling, and who was there. In far greater detail, colour, and depth than if I had not taken a photograph. Photography makes it possible for us to record memories and I really enjoy to be part of the art of storytelling.
